Digital Archiving and Preservation Policies

1. Purpose

This Policy sets out the Journal’s commitment to the long-term preservation, accessibility, and integrity of its published scholarly content. The Journal recognizes its responsibility to ensure that digital materials remain available to the academic community and the public, regardless of changes in technology, publishing platforms, or organizational circumstances.

2. Preservation Principles

2.1 Qurina Scientific Journal (QSJ) is committed to:

§  Permanent preservation of the scholarly record.

§  Protection of published content against loss, corruption, or obsolescence.

§  Ensuring ongoing accessibility of content in widely recognized digital formats.

§  Compliance with international standards for digital preservation.

3. Preservation Strategies

3.1 Archival Systems

Qurina Scientific Journal (QSJ) participates in trusted third-party digital preservation services such as LOCKSS, CLOCKSS, or Portico, or equivalent institutional archiving arrangements.

3.2 Institutional Repositories

Published content is deposited in the QSJ’s institutional repository or partner repositories to ensure redundancy and distributed preservation.

3.3 National Libraries and Databases

Where available, the Journal may deposit content in national libraries, digital archives, or recognized indexing services for additional security.

3.4 Publisher Systems

All published content is maintained in secure publisher databases, employing industry-standard backup, version control, and disaster recovery protocols.

4. Accessibility and Format Migration

4.1 Qurina Scientific Journal (QSJ) ensures that content remains accessible in commonly used digital formats (e.g., PDF, XML, HTML).

4.2 Where technologies become obsolete, the Journal will migrate content to updated formats while maintaining metadata integrity and citation continuity (e.g., DOI persistence).

5. Integrity and Authenticity

5.1 All preserved content will retain its original bibliographic metadata, DOI, and version history.

5.2 Qurina Scientific Journal (QSJ) will maintain measures to prevent unauthorized alteration of published content. Any corrections, retractions, or updates will be applied transparently in accordance with the Journal’s Correction and Retraction Policy.

6. Continuity of Access

6.1 In the event that the Journal ceases publication, its published content will remain permanently accessible through established archiving arrangements with third-party preservation services and institutional repositories.

6.2 Authors and readers shall not lose access to published content due to organizational, financial, or technical changes affecting the Journal.

7. Compliance and Review

7.1 This Policy shall be periodically reviewed to ensure compliance with evolving best practices in digital preservation.

 

7.2 Qurina Scientific Journal (QSJ) may update or expand its participation in archiving services as new, reliable preservation initiatives become available.
