Self-Archiving Policy

1. Purpose

This Self-Archiving Policy establishes the rights and responsibilities of authors regarding the deposit and dissemination of their scholarly work in institutional or subject repositories, personal websites, or other open access platforms. Qurina Scientific Journal (QSJ) seeks to balance the widest possible dissemination of research with the protection of its editorial and publishing processes.

2. Definitions

2.1 Preprint: The version of the manuscript prior to peer review and editorial acceptance.

2.2 Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM / Postprint): The version of the manuscript accepted for publication following peer review, but prior to copyediting, typesetting, and publisher formatting.

2.3 Version of Record (VoR): The final, published version of the article as it appears in the QSJ.

3. Author Rights to Archive

3.1 Preprints

§  Authors are permitted to post and share preprints of their manuscripts at any time, provided that subsequent publication in the Journal is acknowledged once available.

§  Preprints must include a statement that the work has been submitted to the Journal for consideration.

3.2 Accepted Manuscripts (AAMs / Postprints)

Authors may archive the accepted, peer-reviewed manuscript on personal websites, institutional repositories, or subject repositories following an embargo period (if applicable) specified by QSJ.

The archived version must clearly indicate that it is not the final published version and must include a citation and link to the Version of Record when available.

3.3 Version of Record (VoR)

§  The final published article may not be deposited or distributed in repositories without prior authorization from the Publisher, except as permitted under applicable open access licenses.

§  Where articles are published under a Creative Commons license, authors may share the VoR in accordance with the terms of that license.

4. Embargo Periods

4.1 The Journal may apply an embargo period to the deposit of Author Accepted Manuscripts.

4.2 The length of the embargo, if any, shall be specified in the Journal’s Author Guidelines and on the QSJ’s website.

5. Attribution and Linking

5.1 Any self-archived version must:

§  Include full bibliographic details of the final publication.

§  Provide a direct hyperlink (DOI) to the Version of Record on the Journal’s website.

5.2 Authors must not misrepresent archived versions as the final published article.

6. Compliance with Funders and Institutions

6.1 The Journal supports authors in complying with institutional, funder, or national open access mandates.

6.2 Where specific requirements conflict with this Policy, authors must notify the Editorial Office at the time of submission.

7. Publisher’s Role

The Publisher will ensure transparency of this Policy, maintain updated information on embargo periods, and cooperate with repositories and indexing services to maximize discoverability while safeguarding the integrity of the Version of Record.
